The RETOLD project – funded by The European Commission’s Creative Europe programme – addresses the need for digital solutions that can support collections management, compliance, administration, and visitor experience design in archaeological and ethnographic open-air museums.

At this hybrid conference, hosted by the Batavialand museum (Lelystad, NL), the EXARC community will celebrate the launch of the RETOLD Platform and share reflections on digitalisation in open-air museums and reconstructions. The event is open to all people with a museum or technical background who are interested in digital tools in the cultural sector.

On Thursday 12th, Heterotopia’s online presentation will focus on remote/virtual museum education for the history classroom, exploring the ways in which museum theatre and first-person narrative history are emerging as dynamic methods for historical interpretation within the digital realm. We will share an overview of our research findings from the past year and highlight some trends and best practice examples from across the sector.
