As contributors to the RevAthens project, Heterotopia brought the methodology of Museum Theatre into play alongside a broader focus on game design principles and digital narration. This collaborative, practice-led research endeavour experimented with new ways – through design, content and aesthetics – of presenting ‘history where it happened’ with the aim of creating space for alternative readings and perspectives regarding the Greek Revolution of 1821.
The paper RevAthens: Bringing Athens of the Revolution to life through museum theatre methodology and digital gamification techniques was presented at the 2019 RISE IMET: International Conference on Emerging Technologies and the Digital Transformation of Museums and Heritage Sites and is published by Springer (2021).
